MANITOBAN WEIGHTLIFTER WINS BRONZE AT COMMONWEALTH GAMES

The Manitoba Weightlifting Association is pleased to announce that Manitoban Marie-Josée Arès-Pilon won bronze in the women’s 69 kg class yesterday. She had an excellent competition successfully lift 5 out of 6 attempts. She finished with 99kg in the snatch and 115kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 214kg.

Darryl Conrad also competed yesterday and made 4 out of 6 attempts in the men’s 85kg class to finish 7th overall. He finished with 133kg in the snatch and 165kg in the clean and jerk for a 298kg total.

Referee Richard Mason has been the chief weightlifting announcer at these Games and has been receiving rave reviews and was even contacted by a local Glasgow newspaper for an interview.

Closing ceremonies for the Games are scheduled for this Sunday, August 3rd.
