Select local, regional and national compettitions from 2002 to 2006 now have PDF results posted in the “Competitions and Events” menu item. Most of these files are adapted from Excel spreadsheets, so please excuse deviations in formatting between some pages.

If you have digital or paper results sheets not shown on these pages, the MWA would appreciate any donations in curating the history of Manitoba weightlifters in competitions from the local to the international level. Send us an email using the contact form located here.

Many thanks to Mirek Korkowski for submitting a bundle of images and video clips from competitions both here and abroad.

Check out the Gallery section for what we hope to be the beginnings of a great collection of both recent and not-so-recent Manitoba weightlifting history.

Also, thank you to all who responded in the most recent front page survey.  You said loud and clear that you were interested in seeing an online “Hall of Fame” section for Manitoba weightlifting, along with Question and Answer sessions with athletes, coaches, and officials.  Stay tuned for further updates on both of these elements.

And just in case you were wondering, we are always open for submissions for this or any other section on the website.  If your closets and albums are filled with photographs from competitions and trips past, we want to hear from you!

Hello sports fans!  Darryl Conrad has been selected and interviewed as this week’s CTV Sport Star of the Week, a televised showcase of local amateur sports performances and personalities.

His feature will be airing during the July 3rd evening newscast, and from there will be available on the web.

On June 29th and 30th, seven Manitobans made the trek to Burnsville, MN. for the 2012 Team Spartacus Open, held at Crossfit South Metro. By all accounts our local lifters fared very well in the heat, with several 6/6 performances, some season bests and a few all-time PR’s.

Manitoba Highlights:  Rosemary Densmore took home best female lifter of the competition with a 150kg total (66+84), with Eric Mazur placing second overall in the men, including a competition PR of 112kg in the snatch.  Both Enrique Wiebe and Steve Heinrichs put up strong performances in spite of being hampered by work commitments and injury, respectively, and Sean Mazur couldn’t wait to get a 120kg 3rd attempt Clean and Jerk back onto the platform.  Word has it that he will be good for a lot more in the near future.

A hearty thank you goes out from all attendees to Team Spartacus for hosting a fun and competitive summer event.

On the weekend of June 2nd and 3rd, a contingent of five athletes, two officials, a coach and a team manager set out for La Prairie, QC. for a weekend of big lifts and Franglais conversations.  The event decided the national champions for the upcoming year, and being the last major championship of the current Olympic quadrennial, it also served as the final qualification event to determine the selection and ranking of Canadian weightlifters for the London Olympic Games.
